Intro bg 4

Water conservation

In many swimming pools, unnecessarily large amounts of rinse water, which is used to rinse out the pool filters, are drained into the sewer. In order to cut back energy costs and water consumption, Hellebrekers developed the UFRO system, which treats 70% of the rinse water so that it can be used to replenish the swimming pool. The UFRO system can also treat rainwater and repurpose it as toilet water.

UFRO is short for Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis, a fine filter technique used to remove suspended matter, bacteria and fibres from water. Ultrafiltration serves as a pre-treatment step before Reverse Osmosis, which uses a semi-permeable membrane to further treat the water. In reverse osmosis, water is forced through a sieve with microscopic holes at high pressure levels.

Overall, UFRO results in safe, pure water and can result in substantial water savings. In addition, far less rinse water is pointlessly drained to the sewers, thus helping to protect the environment.
